Social Media Atlanta - what?

Seven months ago, I was hired on as a summer intern at Newell Rubbermaid and was told that one of my (many) projects would be helping coordinate an event at the end of the summer - “it will be a lot of fun!”

Monday, November 8 is the start of this great event!

I, along with a bazillion other absolutely amazing volunteers, organizers and sponsors, have coordinated a week-long event celebrating Atlanta’s social media and technological achievements. November 8-15, we will hosting more than 40 events covering topics that will showcase HR, Travel & Tourism, Multiculturalism, Location-Based Services, LinkedIn/Facebook/Blogging 101 for small businesses and entrepreneurs, Viral, Experiential, Sports & Entertainment, Food and so much more! There are seminars, book signings, panels, Meetups/Tweetups, a pub crawl…and many have already sold out - not too shabby for an inaugural event! (No worries, there are still plenty events still available and we even have waiting lists in place so GO SIGN UP NOW!)

Social Media Atlanta 2010 is so social that it has more than 1050 fans on Facebook, 920 followers on Twitter (@SMATL2010), a hashtag (#SMATL), a revamped Wordpress, a Flickr page to upload event photos to, a Twitter Newspaper, a YouTube channel, a proclamation at City Hall, and we are even checking attendees into events using an iphone app from Eventbrite! Whew. How’s that for social?

As a college student graduating in merely FIVE WEEKS from that bubble she calls The University of Georgia, it’s time to network!
